Oklahoma Track & Field Teams at the Big 12 Championships in Waco

On Thursday, combined events start at 11:30 a.m., field events at noon and running events at 6 p.m. Combined events start at 11 a.m. on Friday followed by field events at 4 p.m. and running events at 5 p.m. Field events start at 2 p.m. and running events at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday. Forty-seven Sooners will compete at the meet.

"We're incredibly excited for the championship. It's a culmination of hard work, dedication and preparation from our athletes and staff," stated head coach James Thomas. "We're looking forward to showcasing our talent and competing at the highest level against elite programs."

Good luck to the Sooners in Waco this weekend as they have many events that the Sooners can win and also be on the podium at the finish of the events.

Sooners that reached the podium are:

• Senior Kassidy Gallagher grabbed a silver medal with a 63.35m (207'10") toss in the women's hammer throw.

• On the men's side, graduate Bayley Campbell took bronze with a 65.85m (216'0") mark.

• Freshman Kennedy Clarke also scored for the Sooners in the women's hammer throw, recording 57.35m (188'2") for fifth place.

• Clarke's and Gallagher's scores combine to propel the women's squad into first with 12 points.

Congrats to the Sooners already making a mark for them selves at the Big 12 Championships.

The Oklahoma Sooners Track and Field Teams had a second good day in the field events as the Women are in 2nd Place and the Men are in 4th Place.

The Big 12 Outdoor Championship late Friday night after a seven-hour weather delay. Final events resumed late into the night while preliminary events were changed to timed finals on Saturday.

Podium Finishers for OU were:

• 2023 outdoor heptathlon national champion Pippi Lotta Enok collected the Sooners' first score of the day, grabbing third place in the women's javelin with a PR of 51.80m (169'11") on her last attempt.

• With two top-five finishes in the men's shot put, the duo of Diego Trevino and Tucker Smith combined for 10 points toward the team score. Trevino earned a bronze medal, recording a season-best 19.44m (63'9.50") throw and Tucker Smith finished in fifth with a career-best 19.25m (63'2") toss.

• In another late-night event, the women's long jump, Pippi Lotta Enok and Jasmine Akins combined for nine points. Akins finished in fourth with a 6.27m (20'7") mark and Enok followed in fifth with a 6.12m (20'1") jump.

• Paige Low put more points on the board for the Sooners with a third-place finish in the women's shot put. She registered a 16.43m (53'11") throw.

• The last scores of the night were posted in the men's long jump. Nikaoli Williams secured the Sooners' fourth bronze medal of the day with a 7.64m (25'0.75") leap. Anthony Riley closed with eighth place and a 7.36m (24'0.75") jump.

• Before the storms, sophomore Ally Stephenson concluded her career-best heptathlon performance after posting five personal records. Her PR of 5,344 ore went for eighth place and a point for the Sooners and now ranks No. 8 in OU's all-time outdoor history.

The Oklahoma Sooners Track & Field Teams wrapped up their Big 12 Championships on Saturday by adding additional winners and athletes on the podium for the Sooners.

The Women's team concluded the championship tied for sixth with 51 points and the Men's squad recorded 52 points for ninth.

Here are the podium finishers for OU on Saturday:

• Sophomore BJ Green was named the Big 12 triple jump champion after recording a 16.52m (54'2.50") mark. He becomes the fourth Sooner in Oklahoma history to sweep the men's indoor and outdoor triple jump titles in one season.

• Back-to-back Big 12 outdoor pole vault champion, Olivia Lueking, cleared 4.41m (14'5.50") for second place and added eight points to the women's score.

• Senior Richard Johnson used a late kick at the last 100 meters to clock a season-best time of 45.45 in the men's 400m for a silver medal.

• In the women's triple jump, Agur Dwol leaped to a career-high 13.00m (42'8") for sixth place and the sixth-best jump in Oklahoma outdoor history. Jasmine Akins also scored, finishing in eighth with a 12.65m (41'6") mark.

• Competing in his first outdoor Big 12 Championship, freshman Kyren Washington cleared 2.14m (7'0.25"), a career best, for fourth place in the men's high jump.

• Also in the men's triple jump, Floyd Whitaker boasted a season-best mark of 15.88m (51'1.50") to claim fifth place and four points for the Sooners.

• The women's 4x100 relay of Kennedy Crutchfield, Alexis Williams, Jada Atkinson and Amanda Obijiaku surged to sixth place in a talented field to earn points for the women's squad. Their season-best time of 44.22 is also the 10th-best time in Oklahoma outdoor history.
