I'm confused why Coach waved a limping Coor home in the bottom of the 7th. Plank said Coor was out by four or five steps. Bases loaded with one out is much better than bases loaded with two outs and Patty knows this - and the reason for my befuddlement. As great as she is, I think Gasso made a mistake on this play. GOATs have to keep learning, too, right? (Anyway, the team needed that clutch, two-out hit to walk it off and did not get it.)

It was a very close game in all reality, and one the Sooners had a great chance to win. Tenn was a little better that game - not a lot better. No shame in admitting that. No shame on the team, either.

How the Sooners respond is what is important to me right now. I want to see the team get closer together, support each other, and keep learning. The same goes for us fans.

I get a sense of dread lately when an opposing batter walks or otherwise gets on base in a tight game. I can almost call it - the next batter will hit one out. On the flip side, the Sooners do that quite often as well. I don't like that feeling. I am introspective about being a fan and want to grow along with the team. Learn and move on to the next moment. I want that Championship Mindset, Fan Edition.

This team is young, talented, and already seem mature for their years. I wouldn't trade them for any other group. I like them just the way they are.

Is it just me or aren't the adds in the runners favor that the right fielder will miss the throw to the catcher? That was an ELITE throw by a very good fielder to a very good catcher. If the 60'+ throw is 4 ft to the left or right, or 5 feet short or long, then Coor scores, Game over.

I'm with PG, odds are you score and win the game....

Here are the results of the Saturday SEC Softball games:

#10 Tennessee 1 at #2 Oklahoma 4 --> It was the Deal and Sanders show at Love's Field as the Sooners got a 4-hit CG win by Deal and a 3-run HR from Sanders.

#17 Georgia 4 at #25 Alabama 5 --> Georgia scored 3 run in the top of the 7th to make the game close.

#4 Florida 10 at Auburn 0 --> Florida welcomed Rothrock back to the circle on Saturday as she pitched 4.2 innings in the 6 inning run-rule game.

Kentucky 2 at #14 Arkansas 10 --> Arkansas won in a 5-inning run-rule game.

Non-Conference: LMU 2 at #5 Texas A&M 6 --> All the scoring was in the first three innings of the game.

With LSU not playing on Saturday, the Sooners are now 9-2 in SEC play and the LSU Tigers are 7-1 which puts the Sooners in first place by 1.5 games again. LU plays a DH today against #11 South Carolina in Baton Rouge. Texas and Mississippi State are 6-2 as they play the today in the 3rd game of their series.

Well, let's go through the odds. 50% for a good-enough throw. 75% for a good-enough tag. I think most all of the SEC RF and C cando that.

Coor running full speed helps the formula a couple of steps. she is not running at full speed right now.

Then you could have had two chances for 2 Sooner hitter with .400 BA to het hit a SFLY by Garica or a hit by either Garcia or Parker or a walk by either one of them (about.500 OB% for both).

I think it is an either or situation with one shot vs two shots. I take the two shots rather than bet the short odds. (And I have no Natty's.)

It was an odd call that seemed to be at odds with realities on the ground. A GOAT gaffe? Bottom line, I was disappointed in that one call because I wanted another outcome that I imagined COULD HAVE happened otherwise. Reality is that Tenn just outplayed OU by a close margin. Reality is that OU did not get a clutch, two-out single for the walk-off win. A very good team beat another very good team.

Coach has earned respect and plenty of slack for her decisions in the context of ALL her choices with OUSB in my book. Analytics might also reveal trusting her calls works out more times than not based on winning.

The one thing that strikes me is that analytics deals with numbers based on millions and billions and trillions of data points. It's a huge math equation. It is not Art. Specifics (data input) can change outcomes. What if Coor is gimpy, can't make sharp, time-saving cuts on the bases due to an ankle injury? What about a sharply hit ball that goes to the outfielder who fields the ball in half the normal time? Outcome this time is that Coor is out by a mile.

Analytics aren't evil or wrong - they are only a tool. I am fascinated with the dance between the super computer and the human mind. How do we be a good dance partner?

Lots of drama this season! Fun! Great for the sport! When I consider that OU is currently #1 in the SEC and #2 in the nation right now in light of all the turnover in the team with a large part of them being frosh....playing this well while carrying the expectations of the past four years....

....well, it keeps things in context for me.
