Leon Crosswhite R.I.P
Leon Crosswhite passed away a few days ago. Crosswhite was the wishbone fullback when I attended OU and he was a great one. The other guys in the offensive backfield were outstanding and they got most of the fame and glory. But Crosswhite was consistently flawless at his position. And he was a deeply religious man that seemed to be liked by all. I am deeply saddened by his loss.

...I saw this on FB...but am always skeptical of these R.I.P. stories.
I've never seen anything from the University or Barry Switzer regarding it.
Not saying it isn't true...just like you said SinLA, he was a major part of that 1971 offense, and I would think that his passing if it did occur would've been a bigger story.
IF IT DID HAPPEN...I'm with you, deeply saddened. A true SOONER legend and he started the string of consecutive great FB's in the OU backfield for the entire decade of the 70's.

Sadly, it appears to be true. He apparently passed on April 13, 2026.
